I have good news! Almost all of the work in Creation Kit has already been done for you. All you’re going to need to do is change a few names, direct your textures with the right paths, put some armor and weapons in your inventory, choose some spells, perks and edit your race.

At this point you’re roughly 80% complete and close to making a new follower…

Let’s continue:

Open Ck and do the same as in the pictures. (remember to rename your esp to your followers name or whatever name you like to give it.)

Step 1: in the object window type “make_a”

Step 2: what the bottom of the left window pane click all

Step 3: double click each editor id and replace “MAKE_A_FOLLOWER” With the name you want to use. Keep the numbers at the beginning of the ID, it’ll make it easier on you and are crucial to this tutorial.

IMPORTANT!! Please take note after changing the name the following must be done exactly.

IMPORTANT! The first pop-up window after clicking “Okay” YOU MUST CLICK NO and the second pop-up window YOU MUST CLICK YES. This has to be done everytime you rename an ID. Failure to do this will break the follower!!

Once you have all 22 ID’s renamed, go the the object window filter and type the name you used. As you can see everything is numbered in order of use..

001 through 008 will require additional editing.. No worries though it’ll be easy…

009 through 012 will automatically update and do not require additional editing,

013 through 020 will be a mixture of required edits and automatic updates, depending on what meshes you already have…

021 will automatically update

022 Is the final stage of putting your follower together.

Let’s continue with the texture sets, just follow the pictures and instructions under them

Open 001 ID and replace all the body textures to point toward your follower folder in textures..
they will be replaced in this order from top to bottom:
1 – femalebody_1.dds
2 – femalebody_1_msn.dds
3 – femalebody_1_sk.dds
4 – femalebody_1_s.dds
Afterward click OK and save your work
Open 002 ID and replace all the hand textures to point toward your follower folder in textures..
they will be replaced in this order from top to bottom:
1 – femalehands_1.dds
2 – femalehands_1_msn.dds
3 – femalehands_1_sk.dds
4 – femalehands_1_s.dds
Afterward click OK and save your work

Open 003 ID and replace all the head textures to point toward your follower folder in textures..
they will be replaced in this order from top to bottom:
1 – femalehead_1.dds
2 – femalehead_1_msn.dds
3 – femalehead_1_sk.dds
4 – Detail Map (yellow box) stays the same.. do not edit this…
5 – femalehead_1_s.dds
Afterward click OK and save your work
Open 004 ID and replace all the eye textures to point toward your follower folder in textures..
they will be replaced in this order from top to bottom:
1 – eyes.dds (name of your eye texture file)
2 – eyes_n.dds (leave as is if you don’t have this texture)
3 – replace any other eye textures you may have in the appropriate section. leave as is if you don’t have any other textures.
Afterward click OK and save your work
Open 005 ID and replace all the brow textures to point toward your follower folder in textures..
they will be replaced in this order from top to bottom:
1 – brow.dds (name of your eye texture file)
2 – brow_n.dds (leave as is if you don’t have this texture)
Afterward click OK and save your work


Next we’ll move onto Armor Addon 
006 – This is the nakedfeet Armor addon. Go to female biped model and click select to replace current mesh with the body mesh you’ll be using. meshesactorscharacter_MAKE_A_FOLLOWER_KIT_ (or the name that you changed the folder too)
replace with femalebody_1.nif  
IMPORTANT it must always end with _1.nif  Do not use the _0
The yellow box should have already updated to the correct name of the texture set that you’re using and can be ignored. If it does not have the correct name go back and check your work.
Afterwards click OK and save your work
007 – This is the nakedhand Armor addon. Go to female biped model and click select to replace current mesh with the hand mesh you’ll be using. meshesactorscharacter_MAKE_A_FOLLOWER_KIT_ (or the name that you changed the folder too)
replace with femalehands_1.nif  
IMPORTANT it must always end with _1.nif  Do not use the _0

Let’s check our progress so far

open 009, at this point the names of your armor addon should appear in the box with the red circle. if not then add them in by right clicking in the box and select new.. 
skipping 010, 011 and 012, they will automatically update.

Open 013 this is the section for head parts


Everything should be automatically updated for you except the Model, click select and enter the femalehead.nif from your folder. if you also have a tri file (the one below it) then direct the path to your followers mesh folder as well. If you do not have a tri file then just leave it as it is.

Click OK and continue….

If you have meshes (nif files) for 014, 015 and 016 then go into each ID and redirect the meshes.. If you don’t then leave as is..
Open 017 Hairline head part

Replace hairline mesh with hair in your folder and leave the tri blank if your hair does not come with one.

Replace hairline mesh with hair in your folder and leave the tri blank if your hair does not come with one. Also take note of the yellowbox, it should already have the correct name of thehairline mesh in it.

Open 019 Race

General Data tab


1 – Check Female

2 – Set your skill bonues the way you want them

3 – Specials box, choose a race (or races) you want your follower to resemble and keep only the special spells for that race (races) remove the rest…

4 – Make sure armor race is set to default.
Body Data tab just make sure the little yellow box is pointing toward your custom skin.

Text Data – Please read then replace with name of your race and a description if you like.
Face Data – Should be all automatically updated, just check to make sure it’s directed at your custom head parts and hair.
Moving on to 020

Change to match followers hair color.
021 will auto update and can be skipped.

022 The follower character sheet.. putting all the pieces together..

Mostly everything is auto updated in the follower character sheet.. There are a few essentials though.
Under the trait tab
1- The name of your follower
2 – Height
3 – Weight ( enter the exact weight of the follower that you made, not doing so would most likely end up in a neck seam as well as color mismatch of head and body.)
Stats tab
1- change anything under this tab to your preference, class, health stamina etc..
Factions tab – is completed but if you do not want marriage for the follower then remove it from the list.
Relationships tab – is completed
Skip keywords
AI Data – Is already finished but can be changed to your preference. 
AI Packages – has been completed and can be skipped. Advance modders may want to make changes but novice modders should leave it as it is.
Inventory and Spell tabs – Are empty and you can drag over which ever spells, inventory, perks you want the follower to have. later on if this resource kit is a success, I plan on adding optional esp files that come with pre-builds for inventory, spells and perks.
Chargen Parts – should have already been auto updated for the most part.. you can check it over to see if your followers hair color is preset. Put the correct numbers in face tinting. (this will be the color of your skin tone) check tosee if the head parts are of the ones you created earlier..
Once done click OK and save your work.


Next go to Actors >Actor>Actor, highlight your followers name and press CTRL and F4 together.. this will create a facegen file.
Click yes

If this pops up click yes to all.. Hopefully it doesn’t but we can fix that later

Next place your follower in the world.

Choose your location

Then simply drag and drop your follower into the world. Be sure not to accidentally move any objects while doing so. It can cause the game to crash.




Save once more and close Creation Kit

Click Next to Proceed
